So in a few hours, the last Offenders standing at Sundance (Justin, Elaine and myself) will be heading back to L.A. where I hear we’ve been experiencing beach weather. It’s going to be quite a change from this:
After Thursday’s snow adventure, the sun’s been shining in Park City making the weather picture perfect in my book: snow on the ground, sun in the sky. It’s certainly the perfect weather to sit inside a toasty theater with a thousand other film fans to watch movies, which for me included everything from Up the Yangtze director Yung Chang’s moving new documentary China Heavyweight–about boxing dreams in a small Chinese province–to Smashed—a dramedy about an L.A. woman struggling with alcoholism starring my new Sundance crush–the very talented Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
My fellow Offender Anderson’s already written about some of the flicks he’s seen at the fest and has promised to post another blog about his favorites so he’ll have the film end of the fest covered. Since I arrived at Sundance later and wasn’t able to see the sheer volume of movies that my fellow Offenders saw, what I’ll most remember is the overall experience: the late night Burger King runs, hanging and talking into the wee hours at the YOMYOMF cabin, the hospitality of all the people I’ve run into especially the festival volunteers who I have to say are the friendliest group of volunteers I’ve ever encountered. And of course, the snow. And sights like this, that made it feel like Christmas in January:
Oh, and getting to use Anderson’s badge and pretending to be him after he left–that was pretty fucking awesome too! (“Hello, my name is Anderson Le, but you can call me Dr. Lovebucket.”)
Justin, Elaine and Anderson also all got sick in the final days of the fest and while that sucked, it meant more adventures in partaking of various foods that fall under Justin’s home remedy category including fish n’ chips soaked in malt vinegar to his specially prepared brussel sprouts, which were pretty damn good.
I guess as it is and always will be with us at YOMYOMF: it’s all about the food.
So I bid a fond adieu to Sundance—my first though I’m sure not my last. It’s been a blast but now it’s time to return to L.A. and back to reality—namely, our YOMYOMF YouTube channel, which will launch in just over two months. Which means—Fuck! Time to get back to work.

Hey Phil, I would like to get involved with the YOMYOMF Youtube channel. Are you accepting interns? how can I help you guys?
@Alex, if we do a call for interns or other help for any of our events, it would most likely be posted on our facebook and twitter first so just make sure you’re following us there. Thanks for the interest!
sounds good Philip, i’ll be on the lookout! thanks
