As most of our regular readers know my fellow Offender Anderson is the head programmer at the Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF). Over the years, I’ve been bugging him to invite me out to the festival to…well, to do whatever it is someone like me would do at the festival.
This year, Anderson has finally given in to my increasingly desperate pleas come to his senses and asked me, in my capacity overseeing the creative content for the YOMYOMF Network, to put together HIFF’s New Media Academy event, which will take place on October 20 at 4PM. I’ll be moderating the panel with three distinguished guests, including our YOMYOMF Network partners/two of the most popular personalities on YouTube–KevJumba and Chester See–and actress Jamie Chung (Hangover 2, Once Upon a Time) who has appeared in a couple of our videos including this audience favorite:
We’ll have an informal but informative discussion about creating online/YouTube content; using our channel as a case study to explore where the medium currently is and where we think it’s going (Plus, there might be a surprise or two). So if you’re in Hawaii, come on out and join us. It’s FREE to the public but we recommend you reserve your tickets in advance (which you can do by clicking here).
And if you have any questions or topics you’d like us to address during the event, leave them in the comments below and we’ll do our best to incorporate them.
If you’re in Hawaii but can’t make it to the New Media Academy, I still encourage you to support HIFF. The festival opens this Thursday, October 11, and features a line-up of some great movies (including my fellow panelist Jamie Chung in Eden) so it’s well worth your time (and Anderson’s legendary karaoke abilities are not to be missed and will undoubtedly be on full display during HIFF).
I’ll also be out in Hawaii for most of the fest and will do my best to blog during that time, but hopefully will see some of you on the 20th. Mahalo!
