The Songziniao Hospital in China’s Hubei Province has a new aid for couples that need a little help in conceiving a baby…sex wards.

Basically, these are rooms at the hospital that couples can pay a “discounted” rate to use to help them make a baby. This is accomplished by creating an environment that encourages pregnancy “by inspiring sexual passion for the patients.”

Aside from the decor out of a ‘70s soft-porn flick, amenities include an expert counselor to provide “sex skills advice,” “sex skills videos,” pictures illustrating the human genitalia and even nurse or air hostess uniforms upon request. Yowza!

But here’s the section from the description of the sex wards that I found most interesting:

According to the sex professor Peng Xiaohui from Huazhong Normal University invited to the press conference, they once treated a couple having fertility problems and the reason why the couple with doctor degree failed to conceive a baby after three years of marriage was found to be that the husband had mistaken the belly button of his wife for her vagina!

So either this guy secretly has a fetish for belly buttons (nothing wrong with that I might add) or…well, I guess these wards do serve a real function besides being more respectable versions of motel rooms you rent by the hour. Someone show that man a “sex skills video” pronto!
