Disturbing Strokes

  • April 18, 2010 2:12 pm

Garsh, I love YouTube. Check out this re-imagined opening credit sequence for the beloved ’70s sitcom Diff’rent Strokes, but done with ominous music that would’ve fit perfectly in a Stanley Kubrick film from that era: YouTube Preview Image So hilarious, but at the same time, gives me a sense of uneasiness — like when the show had that very special episode, featuring character actor Gordon Jump playing a child molester. It’s so interesting to see how sound and music can be more important than visuals when setting the tone and mood.

So all you budding (and established) filmmakers out there, check out our upcoming film initiative, INTERPRETATIONS!

I Love The ‘80s: Dudley Molested. “What’cha Talkin’ ‘Bout, Willis?!”

One of my favorite TV shows as a child was Diff’rent Strokes. The hit series ran from 1978 to 1986 with the type of premise that one can only find on a TV sitcom: two orphaned African American kids from the ‘hood (Gary Coleman’s Arnold and Todd Bridges’ Willis) are adopted by a rich Caucasian man (Conrad Bain) and hilarious hijinks ensue.
