
Yep, we’re going to go dark on Wednesday to join our Internet brethren to protest against current legislation in Congress that could potentially curb speech rights and allow content holders (i.e. the studios) to shut down sites immediately without initial court orders. You can read more about the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and it’s weaker cousin, Protect IP Act (PIPA), over at Gizmodo.
Although it looks like SOPA is dying a slow death in Congress, and the fact that President Obama has publicly stated that he doesn’t support SOPA, we still need to go all V for Vendetta and stand up for net neutrality. Because we know, if SOPA does get passed, then YOMYOMF and other blogs and sites could potentially be shut down.
