Dictator Fashion Revisited

  • December 20, 2011 3:51 pm

Last year, I had blogged about dictator fashion after it was declared in the Rodong Sinmun Communist Party newspaper that Kim Jong Il’s suits had become a “global fashion phenomenon.“

Unfortunately 2011 was a bad year for all those following the autocrat runway.  We lost two out of three of our despot trendsetters.  And even Fidel Castro has stepped out of the limelight into retirement.

Kim Jong Il’s successor, Kim Jong Un, clearly is not ready to take over the legacy of fashion icon that his father left behind.  The navy blue drubs that Kim Jong Un has chosen to sport simply blend in with his fellow statesmen.

YOMYOMF Exclusive: Kim Jong-Il’s Last Words

  • December 19, 2011 10:59 am

Specific details about the circumstances around Kim Jong-Il’s death are still sketchy at best. However, in another YOMYOMF exclusive, we have learned from a source who was at the North Korean dictator’s deathbed that Dear Leader did have some last words to share with the world. And for the first time anywhere, here they are:

1) I knew I shouldn’t have hired Conrad Murray as my personal physician.

2) Anyone else find it funny I’m dying at age 69? 69?!!! Hilarious! You can’t make this shit up.

3) I feel bad for all the chubby Asian American comedians who will now be out of work.

4) You must not reveal to the world that our entire nuclear program is actually modeled after Mr. Burns’ power plant from The Simpsons.

An Open Letter to CBS Regarding the Charlie Sheen Problem

  • March 2, 2011 12:01 am

Dear CBS:

Of course you and everyone reading this knows what’s going on with Charlie “I’m a winner” Sheen so I’m sure I don’t have to fill anyone in on all the batshit crazy details. But it comes down to this…from your perspective, it looks like Sheen’s gone off his rocker, but it’s going to be difficult to completely wash your hands of him because he’s still the star of Two-and-a-Half Men, which is a huge cash cow for your network. So what to do? Luckily, I have the perfect solution not only to your problem, but a similar problem that the international community is also facing.

I’m sure you also know that Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi is continuing merrily along with his own batshit crazy routine. In the midst of protests and calls for him to give up power, Gaddafi remains defiant even saying absolutely WTF shit like how his people “love me, all my people with me, they love me all. They will die to protect me, my people.”

The media has already pointed out the similar ways in which Sheen and Gaddafi are completely bonkers and I think they’re onto something. You could say Gaddafi is sort of the Charlie Sheen of evil dictators—anyone who only hires hot chicks to be his bodyguards, well, that’s gotta make a man like Sheen proud.

Dictator Fashion

Earlier this year, it was announced that North Korean leader, Kim Jong Il, had become a worldwide “fashion trendsetter”. Yes, that’s right. According to a state-run newspaper, Kim Jong Il’s trademark grey jacket and matching trousers have become best sellers in fashion stores from Milan to L.A. The author of the communist party newspaper went on to claim that the “august image of the Great General, who is always wearing the modest suit while working, leaves a deep impression on people’s minds in the world.”

Perhaps his fashion has left the deepest impression with the uniformed work force, for as comedy writer Stefanie Novik comments, “He looks like a janitor.” But it is apparent that Kim’s fashion has also influenced the big screen. Just take a look at Dr. Evil.

Indeed, the dictator’s look is so versatile, it can be transformed from dressy to casual with minimal effort–whether it’s day visits with the proletariat or evening parties with Putin, Kim seems to have found the perfect wardrobe to express Communist chicness.  And as we all know, grey is a color that goes with just about everything. So no need to worry about mixing and clashing with the rest of Kim’s wardrobe, which consists of equally non-clashing tones of khaki.
