More from Ben Sherwood’s book The Survivors Club: The Secrets And Science That Could Save Your Life:

On the Las Vegas strip, your survival rate if you suffer a heart attack is 53 percent better than it would be if you were in a hospital.

“What?” You may be asking with a hint of intrigue.

When you have a heart attack, your survival depends on how fast you’re defibrillated. If you get the first jolt within one minute, you have a 90 percent chance of making it. Every sixty seconds after that, your chances drop by 10 percent.
