The Real Story of K-Pop brought to the Silver Screen

  • April 1, 2010 3:03 am

Looks like today is a special day for announcements. As Justin blogged, YOMYOMF is launching a new film division called YomWick Entertainment. As some of you know, Offender Phil is a bonafide screenwriter. Aside from his daily pontifications here on this site and being YOMYOMF’s resident gadfly (check out his post on K-Pop sensation G-Dragon and his dry humping scandal), the guy actually sets aside time to write, you know, screenplays. Well, I am proud to announce that one of Phil’s passion projects is finally coming to fruition and will be YomWick’s first release.

Since Phil is a music lover and also Korean, his magnum opus is the real true story behind Korea’s first boy band, SOLID. Who the frakk is that, you ask? Just the first boy band in Korea that introduced hip hop and R & B to a then very unhip South Korean populace. Before SOLID, the Korean music industry was basically overrun with weird drunkard folk songs, or whatever. SOLID, which were oddly dubbed a duo, but actually was three Korean-American guys from Los Angeles, broke major ground by wearing plaid vests, oversized sports jerseys and black high top British Knights, and releasing their infectious hit, Soul Mates! Check out their then, groundbreaking music video for this hit song…

Senior Year Mix Tape

  • March 12, 2010 11:16 am

The other night I had the most vivid dream about my high school senior year. It was both scary and hilarious because my dream was about this one crush I had with a cheerleader that was in my English class. I would always let her cut in line at lunch, help her with her homework, and give her wake up calls thru pager language every morning. Yea, I basically would do anything to talk to this girl. But I knew the only way to win her over was through song. So this dream I had consist of me making the ultimate 80′s and 90′s mix tape. There is def an art form into creating this perfect blend of seduction and sexual innuendo. And I had all of my older brother’s music at my disposal. The first song would have to start off with a bang. Then the second song had to top the first. The third song would be tricky cuz you’d have to bring it down a notch but still keep the mood right. I wouldn’t say this is my perfect mix but def a great find on youtube.

What would you add to the mix…from that era of course?
