According to a new study by the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and the Catholic University Medical Center, Korean Americans are “the heaviest and most frequent binge drinkers among Asian Americans.”
The study was completed by 8,900 adults representing five Asian ethnic groups in America and here are some of the results:
51.8 percent of the surveyed Korean Americans said they drink at least once a month compared to 49.7 percent of Japanese Americans, 42 percent of Chinese Americans, 37.9 percent of Filipino Americans and 34 percent of Indian Americans.
24.6 percent of the Korean Americans said they drink more than five glasses of alcohol in one sitting, which is two to three times the number for the other groups.
I can go on, but in the interest of time and being redundant, I think everyone gets the point. So my only question regarding this study is simply…why?
I don’t know who funded this study, but whoever it was, you just flushed your money down the toilet. And if this was done with tax-payer money, here is another example of unnecessary government waste. Did we really need to spend money and man-power to tell us that Koreans really drink a lot? I mean…duh!
We might as well do a study to show that the earth revolves around the sun or that everything tastes better with bacon or that baby pandas are really cute:
This is so upsetting, I think I need a drink. Or five.

Philip, you must be one of the Koreans living next door! I warn you, tell your friends to use the recycling bin a level down (or up) and stop overflowing ours!! Like everyday!! Unbelievable…I thought they were Chinese, but now that you talk about it, they must be Koreans!
