I have been challenged to write about Inception once a week until the end of the year. Not that this really changes anything because I was planning on doing that anyway.
This week, we continue my adventure into the world of fan fiction. It’s probably safe to say we won’t be getting any more Inception stories from Nolan and the Blu-Ray doesn’t come out till later this year. So in order to get a fix, I’m pretty much gonna have to make my own so hopefully, you need a fix too.
The first is a story in parts. Here is Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7 and Part 8. This would be Part 9. It’s called
“The Human Vault.”
Emma’s eyes drift away from Nathan and back to the Hummer ever present before them. “Better have your gun out, Will.” She centers her focus and the approaching cross section of road slowly changes into the end of a line.
The paths on either side of the Hummer fold on themselves in tandem with the path in front of it – no exit. The driver brings the Hummer to a screeching halt and grabs his rifle from the guard in the passenger seat.
William grabs his pistol out of the cup holder with Emma doing the same behind him. The two rush out of the Corvette, leaving Nathan behind.
The four remaining guards step out of the Hummer, but before they can bring their weapons to a firing position, William and Emma – on either side – already have them in their sights, crouched and ready. With no driving turbulence whatsoever, their shots come swiftly and with absolute precision. They find their four marks and drop them with ease.
Nathan hears the shots and flounders about trying to ascertain the situation. He sees the dead guards. He watches his partners drag a woman out of the Hummer. In his weakness, he cannot make out her face. He collapses onto the seat again.
The masses of projections continue encroaching their beaten path. In about a minute’s time, they’ll envelop all of them.
As Nathan goes in and out of consciousness, he hears a voice, female and unfamiliar: “The vault is just down that way. Make a U-turn and head on straight till we hit it.”
Emma hops into the backseat and gives Nathan a onceover. “If we’re gonna do that, you’d better hurry, Will. It’ll be lucky if the dream doesn’t start collapsing in three minutes.”
William slides into the driver’s seat. “Yes, ma’am.” The Corvette’s passenger side door swings open, letting in the source of that unfamiliar voice.
A quick turn around faces the car toward the sea of projections.
Energy drains from Nathan at an exponential rate, much like the blood pooling at the floor of the car. Emma puts a firm hand back on the wound.
“No one’s got any objections to just running through this crowd, do they?” William’s question hangs in the air for a moment, unanswered.
“I have a feeling this one might.” The woman in the passenger’s seat looks over her shoulder, down at Nathan. ”They are his after all.”
Fading fast as he was, he could still make out the woman’s identity. Beautiful black hair. No older than nineteen.

Jerome,
Slightly off topic—Inception on DVD…is it worth it to get the über version vs. the standard DVD package?
Thanks
@Hyunjin
Give me a link to the uber version you’re referring to so I can be absolutely sure.
In the meantime, I’ll assume you mean the 3-Disc set with the 2 Blu-Rays, 1 DVD, and the Digital copy. If this is the case and you have any intention at all down the road of getting a Blu-Ray player (or already have one), grab this because the video and audio quality differences between BD and DVD are like night and day.
The DVD’s price right now is so close to Blu-Ray that buying only the DVD now and rebuying the BD down the road will more than likely be the costlier option.
I hope that helps.
