that even though I love seeing cute little Asian baby kids do amazing feats, I am half expecting a story on CNN in the near future about ‘competitive Asian parents’ and how they lock their kids up 20 hours a day in a storage closet to dance like Michael Jackson or play the guitar like Eddie Van Halen on Youtube? Or is it because I’m Asian American?

sure they’re adorable now…
but as Geeky Asian Guy said, “From time to time in my life, I’ve felt like this is the role carved out for Asian men in American society — the precocious, non-threatening child.”
watching said videos reminds me of how unremarkable my childhood was. sigh…
Where are the clips of the Asian babies solving quantum physics equations?
Instead of growing up to be computer nerds, biophysicists, and engineers with stable high paying jobs, these kids will grow up to be rock stars, tour the world and sleep with groupies.
Somebody call child protective services!
