Sorry, I had to rely on hyperbole to drag you over here, but it worked, didn’t it? The fact of the matter is that even if it’s not the singularly best boba joint in Los Angeles, Culver City’s Cafe 70 Degrees still undoubtedly resides in the upper echelons of bobadom.

I discovered this place through Yelp a couple months back when I needed a place to hang out at before my Parkour classes.

My expectations were low going into it because, well, I’d been around the block when it comes to tapioca balls and there haven’t really been many places that stick out for their excellence.

Usually, the experience suffices for the given moment, but no establishment really blows me away. Boba’s been middling across the board. I enjoy it, but there’s not much of a spectrum there in terms of quality. If you’ve had it somewhere, you’ve had it everywhere.

Folks: I’m a big man and I’m willing to admit when I’m wrong and shit – was I wrong on that.

Whenever I go to a new place, I like trying their version of my favorite foods, so here I tried their Milk Tea with boba.

Neither too creamy nor too watery, their Milk Tea has hits the right notes tastewise. Plainly speaking, the caliber of their Milk Tea alone is enough to designate this place a home run, but y’all know it doesn’t stop there.

The boba – dear lord, THE BOBA! It is some bangin’ shit they’ve got over there. Having their boba was an eye-opening experience, akin to a person being weaned on fast food all their life and then having some real honest-to-goodness cuisine.

What I had accepted as a fact with boba and the varying facets of its seeming mediocrity were crushed and blown away with a single chew and gulp (which might explain why I choked).

If you love boba, make it a point to visit Cafe 70 Degrees – most def.

One word of warning: the sign at the front says “Westsubs” for whatever reason, so just follow the address given on Yelp.
