First up, My Bloody Valentine releases a new album in over 20 years, Depeche Mode releases a new single, and now David Bowie is releasing new material, including this mindfuckingly brilliant music video for his latest song, “The Stars (Are Our Tonight)” starring him and the sexy androgyny from Scotland, Tilda Swinton, as his Stepford Wife who slowly transforms into his female mirror. There are other females and who I think is a dude, portraying previous incarnation of the Thin White Duke. It’s as if the music industry is being cosmically aligned with my pre-teen emo self.
This music video makes me miss watching music videos in general. Only thing I want to point out, and it’s kind of distracting, is that you can tell Bowie’s got some work done on his face. His cheeks are kind of weird. Other than that, enjoy and I can’t wait to get his new album!
I cannot agree more!!!!!! Finally real music, real video-clip, real women (no fake boobs bouncing around, I mean) androgynous is and always will be sexy! Bowie is a genious!!!! Disclaimer: if he did something in his cheeks, good job, it’s not hugely noticeable and he doesn’t look like an alien… He looks the same, as if time has frozen! Love it!

Most chameleon performers look like their grasping for an identity and can’t quite find it. Bowie went from a lost astronaut to Ziggy to The Thin White Duke to whatever he was for China Girl/Let’s Dance period, effortlessly, and with confidence. Also check out his acting in “The Man Who Fell To Earth.” And then listen to Heroes and Low over and over and over again.
