I was just introduced to this new type of coffee house catered to men. I’m probably about a couple years late but supposely there are Vietnamese coffee shops in Orange County that resembles establishments you might find with a red light outside or even a karaoke bar in Asia. Though its neither of these, the prices still do mimic them. Ten dollar coffee? Girls in lingerie serving them to you? They make small talk with you whether you’re an overweight dim sum lover or a scrawny pale guy. Could this all be true? Should I bring single bills? Has anyone been to any of these?

I, unfortunately, have a friend who visits these all the time. It’s basically a Vietnamese Hooters, except that when you leave you’re wide awake and pitching a tent. The go-home-and-fap ratio must be through the roof.

Sorry, directing my response to Anderson because I’m assuming as someone of Vietnamese descent, he would be in the know about these coffee shops. But because it’s also Anderson and he is a pimp, I think this is a safe assumption to make.

As the resident Viet on the Offenders team, allow me to illuminate more on this topic. This phenomenon is true, but interestingly, is pretty much exclusive to Little Saigon in OC. Other Viet communities around the world, or even in VN, don’t have these types of “bikini cafes”.
Aside from the initial, naughty reaction you get from entering these cafes for the first time, it’s basically Viet Hooters, but the girls are in bikinis, and the clientele is usually older guys, mostly Asian, old GIs, and UCI students who hang out with their laptops because of the free wifi. Plus, the drinks (coffee or tea) are $5 max and the tea has free refills.
Honestly, I don’t understand the economics of this whole enterprise. Most of the cafes don’t have a “private room” for sucky-sucky time and if you want to tip, you tip at the register. My theory is, these girls broker their own “deals” outside and there’s a kick back to mama-san.
But yeah, Phil, we’ll go on an excursion when I get back. We could grade several of them for the blog.
Definitely, Anderson, an excursion is in order. We owe it to our reading public to rate and blog these establishments.
I think we all have to do some more hands on research on this.

there are definitely these kinds of “coffeehouses” in vietnam. not sure about the rest of the world.

Everyone compares this place to Hooters but they actually have food there. Their profitability comes from selling 5 dollar shakes and 3 dollar coffees that cost nickles to make.
From what I’ve read on yelp, the girls are not there for “sucky sucky” time, thus no private room. And if you wanna try hitting on them, good luck and make sure you have a large amount of disposable income. I’m sure there’s at least one or two guys dropping the bling all over.
I’ve been there, its ok. I mean, its not like the girls can talk to everyone for long amounts of time and if you don’t mind smelling like cigarette smoke, all is gold.

There have been these shops in the San Jose area as well, for at least 5, if not 10, years!
are nice places, just for a cup of coffe,girls are nice but they are there just for the tips to pay school,, most of them,, plus they must spend some money on the fake breast,, that is not cool.. i love the small and original vietnamese girl, you must have or spend at least 40.. if u are a pervert,, but the coffe is good,,most of them nice,,, so in a few words.. you are paying for the smile.
