Regular readers of this blog already know that our Japanese friends are into some freaky weird interesting things. And this is apparently true of Japanese kids show hosts.

Meet Sasuga Minami, choreographer/host for Miburi TV—a Japanese dance show for kids.

Now, take a look at the English phrases that appear on her outfit. Here’s the first one—can you say “I love cock”?

Now, we know sometimes things get lost in translation when it comes to Engrish, but I have to say I’m having a hard time understanding what happened here. Perhaps it was a mistake or slip in translation, but while I can see that happening once, three times?

And if this was done intentionally by someone on the staff as a joke, perhaps the executives and producers overseeing these shows might want to pay a bit more attention to their content or at least hire a competent English translator to review the material.

But as comedically disturbing as this is, I have an even bigger question: What’s up with all the kids wearing Nirvana t-shirts?

Am I missing something or is embracing a 90s alt-rock band fronted by an angst-driven singer who committed suicide the in-thing with Japanese 8-year-olds now?

  1. This is what happens when the costumer takes notes from a producer with Tourette’s. At least, unlike tattoos, these words can be removed easily.
