It’s not everyday you see 6 white guys wear matching t-shirts and cheering on an Asian athlete. But that’s just the case for golf pro K.J. Choi and his “Choi Bois.” Since 2005 Brad Page (age 27), Bo Page (30), Bobby Page (53), David Clayton (30), Alex Kirkland (30) and Curtis Gribble (27) fly from Nashville, TN, to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, just to watch Choi play at The Players Championship.
And how do a bunch of Southern boys become die-hard fans and root for a South Korean golfer, you might ask?
“We came out here in ’05 and watched,” said Clayton. “Of all the guys, we found K.J. Choi the most fan-friendly and we liked the way he played.”
Added Brad, “No matter if he birdied or double-bogeyed, he still paid the same amount of attention to the fans. Every time.”
“He is really great to the fans,” said Gribble. “Right in the middle of his round, he signed a ball and dropped it off to a kid. You can tell he really loves the game and respects it, whereas with some of the other players you can’t.”
In 90 degree heat, the guys wore these shirts everyday during the tourney. Lots of Febreze was used, according to one of them. Choi, was very appreciative of their support, especially since the South Korean golfer kicked ass, steering him to victory in a close dead heat against David Toms.
At the trophy presentation on the 18th hole, Choi waved in his biggest fans to take a photo behind the ropes. Choi adds, “For them to fly all the way over to support me the way they did … it’s really spectacular.”
“It was a well-deserved win and couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy,” said Gribble. “We’re obviously on Cloud Nine right now.”

Thats awesome. I’m mildly confused tho.. does he play tennis, or golf? Or both. Maybe I’m just sleepy. Its late.
Jenn: Yikes. I’m tired too. Changed to golf. It should’ve been golf.
Oh, lol. See ladies and gents, this is what blogging while sleepy will do
Haha kidding.
Also, KJ is donating $200,000 of his winnings to tornado disaster relief in the Southeast US. That’s impressive.
