Lust, Caution 2: Electric Bugaloo
I had to write this up in response to Phil’s theory that Asian females are the hottest women ever. I’m currently in Taipei right now and saw this story on the evening news…. During President Obama’s visit to China almost two weeks ago, the Chinese media was rampant with reports not about foreign policy, the economy, internet rights or carbon emission policy.
Well, they were, but Chinese netizens were aflutter about the mysterious beauty that sat right behind the President during his speech in Shanghai on November 16. With her red coat and black dress, and steely, sultry looks, the identity of this hottie was under great speculation — ranging from being a cousin to famous actress, Fan Bing Bing, to being the niece to Yang Lan, a media tycoon in Shanghai.
Chinese bulletin boards went nuts for her, some comparing her to actress Tang Wei from Lust, Caution, while others dished about her impeccable style and “cold as ice” demeanor. There were also rumors that she was a policewoman or secret service agent. Netizens found her facebook page and blog and discovered that she is actually graduate student getting her MBA at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Wang Zifei (her name) broke her silence by writing on her blog on how angry and disturbed she was from all the attention. Although Wang has dabbled in entertainment, ranging from hosting variety shows and some modeling, she has no desire to enter the entertainment industry and is focusing on her studies in business management (You can see some of her older modeling photos at the bottom of this article).
The Seattle Times reported on this and has compared her internet fame to Obama Girl. According to Google, as of this week, there have been over 7 million searches for “Obama girl in red coat”. And the backlash has already begun. China Daily reports that people are criticizing her for being “unbecoming of a student” by suspiciously choosing to sit directly behind the President for maximum media exposure. Why they gotta hate?

Whatever her intention, she’s getting lots of offers from TV stations and, so far, she has rejected all of them and adamantly exclaims that she wants to be left alone and allow her to lead her private life. Which kind of makes her hotter, right?

Time for Ang Lee to give Ms. Wang a call and make her into a star. Lust, Caution 2, anyone? Just as long as I don’t see Tony Leung’s scrotum, mid coitus, then I’m good. But then again, if it means showcasing more Tony Leung nude scenes on screen to up the ante in positive Asian media masculinity, then let’s see more of Mr. Leung’s taint!
Wow, this blog post veered from a story about a hot and mysterious beauty to a renowned HK actor’s nutsack. Must be all the stinky tofu I’m eating here in Taipei.

OMG…..ur too funny^^….i love this site day by day…..men can gossip and be funny ahahaha^^
They can fantasize about the one in red. I’m looking at the girl in white behind her!
She’s super gorgeous! I don’t think the world ever gets tired of beautiful women. Plus the color red is supposed to really excite people.
I love how the last sentence of her statement is: “Presenting you with a small kangaroo photo, I wish you happy, all the best.”
Gosh, look at the 2 plain-Janes seated right behind her…. I believe girlinred was put in that seat for maximum effect. Everyone in attendance was completely planned and I give China much credit to manage every detail. On the inside, I’m sure she be lovin’ the exposure. It will certainly be useful for after her graduation or maybe a few months from now.
a classic chinese beauty…
skinny but totally out of shape
girls like that are kinda gross. when you hug them, it’s just bone, tendon wrapped in skin.
not healthy. needs some fat.
^Agreed. Most pretty chicks from Asia need to put on 10-15 lbs for some proper bounce.
I love how she looks directly at the camera… it’s so, “Come hither…”
