What is it with China and their obsession with President Obama and fried chicken? Many of you probably already saw images of this sign that’s popped up in Beijing:

Of course, this has sparked outrage from those saying this is an offensive perpetuation of stereotypes. And this isn’t the first time China has shown us how much our President enjoys his fried chicken. I previously blogged about this KFC commercial out of Hong Kong:

But lest we generalize and paint China with one racist brush stroke, let’s remember that they are not the only ones guilty of putting forth the Obama-fried chicken connection. Not surprisingly, the Germans beat them to it with this product, which was quickly discontinued:

And there are two businesses calling themselves Obama Fried Chicken in New York City. This one in Brooklyn:

And this in Harlem:

Hell, other well-intentioned folk have been just as insensitive with this stereotype. Here’s a promotion Popeyes Chicken ran on a certain national holiday that probably wasn’t the smartest choice:

Damn, now I’m craving some fried chicken! Wonder if Obama delivers.
