Jeremy Lin Goes All Ninja on Yo’ Ass

  • March 21, 2012 2:11 pm

Saw this over at our friend Angry Asian Man’s blog. It’s the new Jeremy Lin action figure:

And yup, it has the whole GI Joe “Storm Shadow” motif going for it because…well, who doesn’t automatically think ninja when they think of Jeremy Lin? The Taiwanese flag things is a nice touch too, but where’s the coolie hat? What about accessories like nunchucks or chopsticks or the calculus textbook that would fit nicely on that do-hickey on his back?

I guess it’s back to the drawing board. Asian “F” all the way.

When Would It Be a Good Time to Shit All You Can on Everyone You Know on Facebook?

  • March 21, 2012 12:01 am

One night, I was on Facebook and started thinking about a meaningful and clever status update to write as if status updates can be at all meaningful. A provocative sentence popped into my mind: “When would it be a good time to shit all you can on everyone you know on Facebook?” I stopped and wondered for a moment… I wasn’t quite sure what I was trying to say but it sounded kind of neat and naughty. Why not, right? That was exactly what popped into my head.

The perfect status update.

I also thought it would be an interesting experiment as it was sort of provocative but framed within a conditional interrogative. A few hours later after I posted the update, I received several responses along with an SMS from my best girl friend K asking me why I was angry.

“What’s wrong? Why r u angry on FB?” K asked.

And The Oscar for Best Picture Which Prevented The Murder Of Three Innocent Men Goes To…

  • March 6, 2012 4:23 am

Movies can change lives.  Can save them, in fact.

“Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory,” a film nominated for best documentary this year, is one of them.

Spoiler alert: stop reading now if you don’t want to know how the story of death row inmate Damien Echols and lifers Jessie Misskelley and James Baldwin turns out, and if you don’t want to hear Alfredo yammering from his soap box about the death penalty.

Echols, Misskelley and Baldwin, teenagers at the time, were convicted in 1994 for the horrific murder of three eight year old cub scouts.

Why is it Always the Asian American Saying We Shouldn’t be Offended at Racist Slights Against Asian Americans?

  • February 29, 2012 3:43 pm

Over at ESPN.com, a group of commentators including ESPN senior writer Lynn Hoppes, who is Asian American, discussed the topic of Jeremy Lin the other day and asked if we, as a society, are being too sensitive about the topic of LINsanity and race–i.e. ESPN’s own “chink in the armor” faux pas (check out the video of the discussion below after the jump).

Once again, it is the one Asian (Hoppes) who goes out of his way to make the point that Asian Americans shouldn’t be offended, we’re being too sensitive, we should be happy sucking on white dick, yadda yadda bullshit while the non-Asians are the ones calling out the racist shit for what it is.

Dude Photoshops in Famous Peeps into his Holiday Party Photos

Saw this on Buzzfeed and it’s pretty hilarious. Some of the photos easily scream PHOTOSHOPPPED but I question that Bill Murray photo… Maybe he was there? Check out more photoshopped goodness after the jump.

Skype FAIL

  • February 27, 2012 10:22 pm

I had a Skype meeting today. This is what happened on the other side. Very Max Headroom. Either that, or I was being taken over by the Matrix and being transformed into Agent Smith.YouTube Preview ImageThe video was taken by honorary Offender, Konrad Ng.

And the Linsanity Racist Train Continues

  • February 23, 2012 8:50 pm

It’s bad enough that the Asian American Journalists Group came out with a list of “danger zones” when it comes to what is racist and what is not in regards to the phenomenon and man that is Jeremy Lin. It shows that the country is very unfamiliar when it comes to discussing Asian Americans. There’s been a litany of offensive remarks in the media, ranging from tiny dick jibes, unintentional headlines from ESPN, to Lin coming out of a fortune cookie on the Madison Square Garden big screen.

Jenny Hyun & Her Call for the Eradication of Black People

  • February 18, 2012 10:37 pm

With the ESPN/Jeremy Lin/”Chink in the Armor” story grabbing all the headlines this weekend, you may have missed another story that involves Asian Americans, Jeremy Lin and racism—in this case an Asian American “artist” advocating for the “eradication” of all Black people because of one asshole’s slight against Lin.

This is Jenny Hyun:

She is a musician and a songwriter for SNSD and Chocolat. And here are some of her recent tweets (and no, I am not making this shit up):

Pete Hoekstra’s Yellowgirl: The Apology Redo

  • February 16, 2012 11:17 am

So Lisa Chan, the young actress who appeared as “yellowgirl” in Michigan Senatorial candidate Pete Hoekstra’s racist Super Bowl ad has apologized; posting this note on her Facebook page:

“I am deeply sorry for any pain that the character I portrayed brought to my communities. As a recent college grad who has spent time working to improve communities and empower those without a voice, this role is not in any way representative of who I am. It was absolutely a mistake on my part and one that, over time, I hope can be forgiven. I feel horrible about my participation and I am determined to resolve my actions.”

The Foul-mouthed Professor

  • February 7, 2012 8:44 pm

“What people intentionally don’t speak Mandarin? Assholes… According to my knowledge, a lot of Hong Kong people don’t identify themselves as Chinese. They say, ‘We’re Hong Kong, and you’re China.’ These people are assholes. These people are so used to acting as dogs in a British colony. You guys are still dogs, not human. I know a lot of Hong Kong people are good people but yet a lot of Hong Kong people up till now are still dogs,” said Kong Qingdong, the foulmouthed professor from the University of Beijing on national television.

The Karate Rap!

  • February 5, 2012 8:11 am

YouTube Preview ImageThis is as bad as it looks. I never heard this ’80s one hit blunder but they try to jam pack everything Japanesey to rap rhyme, like “I never have to fight and I’ll tell you why, no one wants to fight a samurai” or “I train in my car, I’m a ninjaa”…. Uh, that last line was kind of reaching. There’s even the Oriental riff for good measure. Either way, watch with adulterated judgement on this Superbowl Sunday. And remember… Kumite!
