Every song brings you back to a certain memory in your life. New Edition christmas album reminds me of my childhood days. MC Hammer in middle school with my friends. Even Stevie B and the many mix tapes I would make for certain crushes in high school. But a tune or two always reminds me of certain gigs I’ve worked on in my freelancing career. I’ve had this idea brewing in my head for awhile since I love to sing in the car but we found someone who actually had it, karaoke in the car…or CARAOKE!
My friend Jason hired me as a cameraman for a documentary touring the country to our final destination which was the Obama inauguration. We lived on a sweet tour bus with a crew of six people. Direct tv, internet, leather couches, and amazing scenery helped the time go by. Once we arrived in DC, it was utter madness. It was like everyone squeezed into an ant farm and trying to get to the other side of the barn. I forget the statistics but millions of people attended this inauguration. And since I was in such a rush coming off another shoot, I barely had time to think about the weather and what to pack. Luckily every corner was selling Obama gear from head to toe. From full days on the road of shooting to arriving to DC and working non stop in freezing weather, the crew was getting a bit burnt out. But then we accidentally stumbled upon a gem in DC. His name was Angelo.
Angelo was a special taxi driver to say the least. His cab was equipped with a karaoke machine with surround sounds. We obviously fell in love with Angelo and called him up every time we needed to go a block or two. But the trouble was, after a song or two, we would forget where we were going or how long we had been riding in the cab. But tearing it up caraoke style was a great highlight of the gig. Something about screaming at the top of your lungs in a car where onlookers were so curious gave you a great high.
Here’s me and JR. I’m currently building my karaoke machine to be installed into my Accord. Great memories guys!
We even picked up fellow Offender Anderson at his hotel for a cruise around the block.

Is there a place where Anderson has not karaoked?
thats so tight.
AWESOME idea!
They should do this on DESIGNATED public buses, or maybe trains/subways….and airline flights. LOL.
That was a magical time.
What, no pix of Angelo? Or is he the tall man in the group photo who bares more than a passing resemblance to ex-Laker role player, Rick Fox? Or maybe that is Rick Fox?
Dude, that guailo can wail! Awesome rendition of LaLD.
