The Hollywood Reporter reports that longtime Italian erotic film director Tinto Brass is set to direct his next film in 3-D. Brass, 76, best known for his 1979 film CALIGULA, which he directed in collaboration with noted author Gore Vidal and magazine publisher Bob Guccione (publisher of Penthouse), said the time is right for 3D technologies to be used to create an erotic film. He noted that the project, which he said will be the world’s first 3D erotic film, will also be the first 3D film of any type made in Italy.
Brass’ intention is to direct a film that also takes place in Roman times, but this time, it won’t be meddled by “stupid Americans” (his words). CALIGULA was a mired production, where the film was taken away from the director by Guccione and other producers who added hardcore sex scenes with Penthouse Pets. Vidal, who wrote the original screenplay, divorced himself from the project and there are over a half dozen versions of the film that were released over the years. Could we see something like this in 3-D?
Love the tagline, “No rumor, can match the Reality!”
Of course, when Brass refers to his next project as “the first 3-D porn film,” it is safe to assume the first to use the same technology that brought us AVATAR and the like, not the red/blue glasses of our youth. Because the first “3-D” porn film honor would go to LOLLIPOP GIRLS IN HARD CANDY (1976) and DISCO DOLLS IN HOT SKIN (1977), both featuring a drugged out John Holmes and his 13 in. penis, with of course, 3-D money shot and a random POV of a rollercoaster ride for good 3-D measure.
“That’s a mouthful. No, that’s an eyeful!” Love it.

perhaps by the time it comes out there will also be 3D Smell. nice!
[...] I already used the “cuming” pun in the title, but I’m immature so sue me). A 3-D remake of Caligula is also in development and we’ve already seen Hustler’s This Ain’t Avatar XXX [...]
