I’ve been getting a lot of requests since the Bill Simmons article to share more about what we do in our fantasy league.  Besides intense daily player movements and watching Sal “the machine” chase after us like the Terminator, we usually do a lot of trashing talking on our message board. Today, however, we stopped hatin’ on each other to unify and stand against the one self proclaimed Black Mamba– Kobe Bryant. Sure he’s an easy target, but anyone who gives themselves a nickname should never go unscathed. Plus, is this how a superstar should act?  You judge for yourself. It all started with a little note from Lou in the morning.

LOU: Hello fantasy basketball family,
Thought I’d start off your mornings with this one. Haha

This clip confirms my love/hate relationship with Kobe. Haha

WINSTON: Shocking to see Kobe so self-absorbed.
Our league doesn’t lack in Lins but, having this dude as a
franchisee next season would extend the legend – both the
$uperleague’s as well as his – that much further. If you think
Simmons is a fan now, he would downright bukkake if that happened.
What do you think, Chris C?

CHRIS: what do I think? I think a lot…

I should disclose and most of you guys know, that I know jeremy lin fairly well, so nobody is more satisfied to see him perform than me. nobody!! also disclosing the fact that I’m a lifelong suffering knicks fan, going to his last two games the phenomenon is for real. what’s most gratifying about the whole thing, is that of course asian americans are going to root for him, but he’s seemingly crossed over to the mainstream and I have buddies that are knicks fans, that are jewish, hispanic, black, green and purple all rooting for this kid. it¹s the biggest story of the year in the nba, that sorely needed a boost.

so while kobe can drop 28 at will, on anyone he wants to, in his sleep, I think he’s an absolute DICK for not little the guy shine, if only for his 15 minutes. give the kid some props, you got 5 rings, he doesn’t have 5 games under his belt. so what does kobe really need to prove?

what kobe didn’t think about when he opened his big mouth is the business side, and the fact that he needs to sell shoes, yogurt drinks and mercedes, and whatever else he’s selling out there in asia. his comments will probably go viral, go to china, taiwan, all over asia and kobe will be vilified out there for being a hater. I exchanged a few emails with his peeps and he acknowledged it was a stupid move on the mamba’s part and they will try to figure out a way to damage control it. probably by giving jeremy a hug at center court before the game tonight for a nice photo opp. whatevers.

so, what do I think? I think kobe is still the best player on the planet, but I hate him more than I ever did before, and I hated him a lot. I hope the knicks win and jeremy goes for another double double tonight, and lin-sanity continues. that’s what I think!!

GREG D: I will never refer to him by that self-proclaimed nickname. He’s
always be that hypocrite who threw Shaq under the bus when he was
grilled by the Colorado police.
He’s a special talent who plays the game the wrong way. And as a
Knick fan who HATED the Melo trade I dread what will happen once our
ball hog is back on the court with Lin. I love D’Antoni’s offense
and its great to finally see it played so well under Lin’s guidance.
But it ain’t gonna last.

RICK: Such interesting insight from someone on the Lin-side ….I saw the video and thought the very same thing at first but knowing Kobe and how focused he can be there is a small chance and I say small chance maybe 20% that LinSanity has slide under his radar ….I have found myself in the past few days being the first to introduce Jeremy “All I Do Is” Lin Lin Lin no matter what! to fans in my basketball world….they way I see it tonight’s game cements his presence if he LINS and the Knicks Win

JUSTIN: It’s bullshit like that from Kobe that I have to always preface I’m an 80′s Laker fan first. He either knows he’s a terrible liar and doesn’t care or is just plain delusional about how people read him. What kind of leader can he be when he trash talks his teammate at the mall to strangers or goes out of his way to knock my Kwame when the dude is already down for the count? I’m really sick of people justifying for talented assholes. He is just a dick who doesn’t give a shit about anyone but himself. Let’s see who Jesus is rooting for tonight.

CHRIS: Rick, I actually spent some time with Kobe in China on two separate trips so I got to know him a bit, but obviously don’t know him nearly as well as you do. Frankly it was for business so I remained professional, but he is the most arrogant guy on the planet, hands fucking down. And everyone who has spent 10 seconds with the guy, knows that.

And while I thought for a second that it could have slid below his radar, Kobe and his smirk, told me otherwise. He knows 100% what’s going on, and this is all about him and playing in the Garden. I wouldn’t be surprised if the guy drops 50 tonight, where he loves to play but why diss Jeremy like that, when you know the whole country, and certainly all of Asia is on his jock? Just shows you how self absorbed the guy is!!

DAVID: Hey Lou, you may have to drop Kobe from your fantasy league… we might have a lynch mob!

Ken K.: Beware the Yellow Mamba.

JASON: Let’s get ready to rumble!!

WINSTON: So it’s resolved: Jeremy Lin will be a $uperleague member for 2012-13. And he has to draft himself.

DAVID: Hmmmmmm… sounds like inside trading to me.

BRIAN T: Man Kobe just needs to just not talk anymore. Game is startin guys! Linsanity in NY jumpin off
K-CAL holla back

JIMMY T.: As the driver of the Jeremy Lin bandwagon for the last three years (just ask Chris) and owner of the virtual Jeremy in the greatest fantasy league ever, I will be cheering the LOUDEST when Linsanity takes down the Lakers tonight!!!

DAVID: I can hear you already Jimmy.

JIMMY T. I know you all just saw that stat comparison: Kobe v Lin.

Kobe, I bet u know who Jeremy Lin is now, foo’!!!

JUSTIN: Watching the game right now. Hilarious how the ESPN announcer Mike Breen is struggling to understand that Jeremy Lin is American.

SAL: Also awesome to see the cameramen frantically looking for Asian reaction shots.

ANSON: That man can ball. You see how shocked that woman was when he said, I’m going back to study film…

WINSTON: I’m still waiting for the first crack about the NBA’s first Asian American star thriving in a homecourt called “MSG.”

BRIAN T.: I think I could hear Lin just say to Kobe, “Know who I am now?”

GREG D.: The Hero from Harvard!!!

BRIAN T.: Yeah baby!

WAYNE: And the Rockets kept Johnny Flynn and Dragic over Lin. Booooo

JIMMY T.: Did u all just see that fan sign on espn?!!!!

“Kobe -better luck tomorrow!!!”

JIMMY L.: U beat me to it, right after the game ended.. fan holding up a sign saying:

HEY KOBE
BETTER LUCK TMORROW
LIN-SANITY

DAVID: I usually don’t say stuff like this, but… “this is LINsanity”. Now I need to get a jersey and a Lin mask.

JEFF K.: This is going to be like Fernandomania. How long until the inevitable commercial with Lin and Tebow together?

BRAIN T.: Hollyyyy shit that’s awesome

JIMMY T.: this thread is the gift that just keeps on giving!!!  check the attachment…haha!!!

EVAN: Jeremy had 38 and WE all WON tonight! Damn this feels good!

CHRIS:

JUSTIN: Yo, is that racist?
