Song 29: “Bonnie and Clyde,” Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot
There are a handful of songs which are sui generis – this is one of them – I was first introduced to this genre-defying tune when my business partner put it on our jukebox years ago. Not a day went by that I didn’t play it…several times. I couldn’t tell when this song was made: 60′s, 70′s, early 2000′s? It’s hypnotic, French, moody, timeless, weird, melancholy and was even used in a recent Mad Men episode, when Joan goes with a friend to some kind of psychedelic sex club.
